125 Years of Popular Music

Stephen Goldwater finalA Hundred and Twenty-five Years of Popular Music – with Stephen Goldwater at the piano.

Stephen will talk about aspects of popular music since the 1890s, from parlour songs to pop, the gramophone to television and films to musicals, illustrated with piano selections.

Stephen Goldwater is a solo pianist specialising in background music for hotels, restaurants and private receptions.

His professional career began with a regular engagement at Newcastle’s Imperial Hotel and bookings at the nearby Hotel Esplanade.

London venues have included Burgh House, in Hampstead, Lauderdale House in Highgate, The Connaught Rooms in the West End, The Athenaeum in Piccadilly, the National Film Theatre and at Woburn Abbey and many private houses.

His music has accompanied diners at a number of restaurants including the Belvedere in Holand Park, San Carlo in Highgate and L’Incontro in Chelsea. He was resident pianist at Au Bois St Jean in St John’s Wood.

All members and their guests are welcome but spaces are limited.
