About The Synagogue

We are a friendly, modern orthodox community characterised by a rich mixture of tradition and forward thinking, which we call 'Minhag Hampstead'. Under the guidance of Rabbi Dr. Michael Harris we combine an inclusive outlook with a belief in the importance of education and cross-communal dialogue.

We are renowned for the beauty of our 1892 building, and the power of our choral High Holyday services.

For our Shabbat services, we embrace a lower-key, less formal style, where members of the community share the davening with Rabbi Michael and visiting Chazzanim. On Friday nights, Rabbi Harris leads Carlebach-style services in our small Bet Hamedrash.
