Mitzvah Day – 2017

Last Sunday, around 75 volunteers from Hampstead Synagogue, The Board of Deputies, Emmanuel Church and beyond came together to support Camden’s homeless in four separate activities for Mitzvah Day. An enormous thank you to everyone that was able to join us. As a result, the Emmanuel Church night shelter had delicious red lentil soup and apple crumble to serve on Tuesday evening and both C4WS and Conway House’s FEAST! project were given a wide selection of foodstuffs to use throughout the winter.

Mitzvah Day provided an opportunity for us all to get to know each other and to work together in the service of others. We’re looking for other opportunities to do this again so if you’d like to be involved or you have any ideas, please contact Amanda Bowman.

“May I thank you most sincerely for all the food and toiletries which were so generously collected on Mitzvah Day yesterday.  It was lovely to be outside Waitrose and Tescos and in the Synagogue Hall to meet so many who worked so hard to make this Mitzvah Day go so well. Please be assured that all that has come to the night shelter at Emmanuel will be put to very good use indeed. Thank you for making this community such a wonderful place to live in”. The Revd Jonathan Kester

“We are so supremely grateful to you and cannot thank you enough for the bounty of generosity that came through yesterday! It was overwhelmingly positive in the kitchen! Our stores are over-brimming with such useful items, all the chopped tomatoes and spices and grains and ALL of it! The custard was gobbled last night with our dinner, and the sugar is so so so useful! You would be more than welcome to join us any Thursday and see your donations being put to good use!”  Hannah Style, FEAST! Founder and Chair
