and service to Hampstead Synagogue
Robert Max, who has been a member of Hampstead Synagogue all his life, is a well known cellist, cello teacher and conductor. He has performed throughout Europe, the USA, Russia and the Far East as soloist, as the cellist of the Barbican Piano Trio and as principal cellist of the London Chamber Orchestra. He was honoured to be one of the musicians playing at the 2011 Royal Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. For this special concert Robert will be joined by his son Noah who is known to the whole congregation for his melodious contribution to the Synagogue choir on the High Holidays, and five of his talented students. The programme will include music for solo cello by Bach, Cassado and Prokofiev plus an eclectic selection of attractive ensembles for multiple cellos including Saint Saens’ famous “Swan”, “Aint Misbehavin” and “Are You Lonesome Tonight”.
