Using Gotthold Lessing’s “Nathan the Wise, David will explore the problem of religious pluralism. Nathan the Wise, a play published by Gotthold Lessing in 1779, is set in Jerusalem during the Third Crusade. It describes how the Jewish merchant Nathan, Saladin and a Templar bridge their gaps between Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
