Tai Chi with Shirley Samuelson

TaiChi

All are welcome for our taster session in Tai Chi and Chinese exercises, with Shirley Samuelson

Tai chi, also called tai chi chuan, combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements. Originally developed as a martial art in 13th-century China, Tai Chi is today practised around the world as a health-promoting exercise, which can reduce stress, improve balance and general mobility, and increase muscle strength in the legs. As a low impact exercise, it is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.

Shirley has been doing Tai Chi and Chinese exercises for many years as part of her daily keep-fit routine. They involve gentle movement and breathing routines which have a calming, relaxing and strengthening effect.

After a long and varied career in social services, Shirley obtained qualifications in clinical aromatherapy therapy as well as in Chinese massage therapy which she has practised as a volunteer in various departments of the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead.

Shirley will be running another taster session to learn more about the art of Tai Chi and Chinese exercises on 14 February. If you would like to come, please book below.
